The world's first panorama airbag

Cars with beautiful panoramic roofs have been invented for a long time, but the airbag for this panorama is only now. The first who thought of protecting passengers from the consequences of a glass roof crash in an accident was the Korean subsidiary Hyundai Mobis, which is one of the largest suppliers of the concern with the same name.
The developers of the "airbag" for the roof with panoramic glass and large hatches have already patented their invention in the appropriate authorities. Korean engineers were interested in such pillows not only the parent concern Hyundai-Kia, but also various American institutes that conduct crash tests and scientific research in the field of traffic.
The airbag module is integrated in the rear of the inner roof lining and is triggered when the car is thrown, which minimizes the chance of “departure” of passengers and the driver from the passenger compartment onto the road. In a collision, the pillow will work instantly - in just 0.08 seconds and completely cover the entire glass area.
The integration of a large airbag in the roof trim was fraught with some difficulties, namely: the developers were faced with the task of maintaining the permissible thickness of the skin, provided that the glass roof mechanism eats up part of the ceiling above the heads of passengers. Hyundai Mobis noted that a new level of safety in the form of ceiling airbags will only be available in premium cars so far, although it is possible that, to the extent that technology is cheaper, more budget models will be equipped with such pillows. There is a possibility that the new Hyundai i Kia models will go on sale already with panoramic airbags.
