In Ukraine, second-hand automobiles are quoted more than new cars
This was reported in the association "Ukravtoprom". Such statistics was obtained as a result of the data obtained from the registration in Ukraine of used cars, which were imported from the EU countries. In 2020, the number of imported euro plates amounted to 353.4 thousand cars. For example, sales of new cars amounted to 85.5 thousand, which is 4.1 times less.
In the press service of "Ukravtoprom" reported that in December 2020, over 40,000 used cars changed their Euro-plates to Ukrainian license plates. This is a third more than in the same period in 2019. Volkswagen has become the leader among European automotive second-hand. In December, 58,518 cars of this manufacturer were registered. The second place in popularity belongs to Ford with 33.811 thousand imported cars. Third place belongs to Skoda with 28,782 used cars. Interestingly, this top three in the year 20 fell in demand by 21% compared to registrations in 2019.
In total, in 2019, Ukrainian customs registered 408.1 thousand used cars, which is 3.5 times more than a year earlier. The registration boom for used car sales was recorded in the first two months of 2019. Experts attribute this surge to the expiration of the preferential legalization of Euroblank. Then almost 85 thousand cars were registered, which was reflected in the final figures for 2019.
With the start of the lockdown in April 2020, the registration of used foreign cars stopped altogether. In May, this market revived again and began to gain momentum, monthly increasing the number of last year's registrations.
