Japanese invented a floating electric car

Now electric cars can not only work on a lithium battery, but also swim! The ex-employee of one of the divisions of Toyota invented not just an electric car, but a real electro-amphibian. The unusual invention of Japanese innovative engineer Hideo Tsurumaki was called Fomm One.
In an interview with an authoritative publication, the developer told how he came up with the idea of creating such a floating electric car. After the devastating tsunami that hit Japan in 2011, the engineer decided to create a machine that can function even in the most extreme weather conditions.
In 2012, Tsurumaki resigned as project lead engineer to begin work on creating a single-seater electric car. So, the startup Fomm was created. In the same year, an engineer manually made the first prototype of a car. Further, employees of the University of Tokyo joined the project to create a car control system on the water. During the joint work, the designers decided to use turbine-shaped wheels that draw water, and a water cannon, with which the electric car carries out movement and steering the car.
Fomm One is equipped with a fully waterproof transmission and an electric motor with a capacity of 14 hp. and lithium-ion batteries, the maximum speed is 80 km / h, and one charge of the electric car is enough for 160 km.
By the way, in Thailand, sales of an amphibious electric car have already started. In the rainy season, when the streets are flooded with water, this car will be especially in demand. The issue price is 21 thousand dollars. The inventor himself says that this car is technically not an amphibian; it makes it possible to stay on the water in case of force majeure.
