New is well forgotten old
Kia has announced its intention to return the three-row Kia Carens to service.

From 1999 to 2018, three generations of the Carens compact van were produced from the assembly line of the Kia plant. The characteristic features of this model were hinged doors, a three-row lineup, a body length of 4.5 meters and a front-wheel drive platform. But, as it turned out, the model could not compete with the mega-popular crossovers. Therefore, the automaker decided to leave the idea to compete with crossovers and abandon the production of the model. So, for 19 years of production of the Carens compact van, three generations of the model have changed. The last representative of the Carens lineup was released in 2018.

And now the company set out to bring Kia Carens back to life, but in a new rethought format, codenamed Kia KY. This model will be created exclusively for the Indian market. The compact van is planned to be equipped with three rows of seats and styled as a crossover. The novelty will be presented to the public on December 16, 2021.

The company has not yet advertised what the appearance of the new compact van will look like in a rethought format. The revived Carens appeared in a darkened teaser in a mysterious way in the advertising brochures. Kia keeps the intrigue to the last.

But it is known that the novelty is produced in 2 versions: with a gasoline atmospheric 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 115 hp. and a turbocharged diesel unit of the same volume and power.

All production of new items will be debugged in India. In the first quarter of 2022, the first sales of the old new model will begin.
